Relevant Areas of Research Excellence
Hull is a recognised leader in maritime studies, supply chain management and smart port operations. Our Logistics Institute is a global centre of excellence in sustainable logistics, low‑carbon freight movement and advanced supply‑chain innovation, working closely with industry to deliver practical, scalable solutions.
Through our Energy and Environment Institute, we lead research in climate resilience, renewable energy, industrial decarbonisation, offshore wind, flood mitigation and sustainable communities. This work directly supports the UK’s clean‑energy transition and drives major initiatives such as the Coast-R Network and the Northern Net Zero Accelerator.
Hull is also nationally recognised for high‑impact sustainability research—spanning flood protection, community resilience and low‑carbon innovation—supported by strong industry partnerships and major national programmes.
