Why become an Associate Member?
Associate Members work alongside the GCU partners to address shared challenges at the intersection of maritime affairs, logistics, sustainability, renewable energy and global business – translating research into practical solutions with real-world impact.
Associate Membership provides a flexible route into the GCU network, enabling organisations to engage at a level aligned with their strategic priorities, without the obligations of full university membership.
As an Associate Member, your organisation benefits from:
- Early access to research insights and innovation in ports, logistics, coastal sustainability and the blue economy
- Opportunities to shape research agendas and co-develop projects aligned with industry and societal needs
- Participation in collaborative research bids, pilot projects and knowledge-exchange initiatives
- Direct engagement with academic expertise and emerging talent, including doctoral researchers and students
- Visibility within an international consortium focused on coastal and port-city challenges
- Trusted partnerships that support evidence-based policy, innovation, and long-term resilience
Who can join as an Associate Member?
Typical examples of Associate Members include commercial and industrial partners; port authorities and logistics operators; public sector bodies and regulators; non-governmental and third-sector organisations; and research institutes and other innovation agencies.
However, we welcome expressions of interest from any organisation that can demonstrate:
- A strong interest or operational presence in port cities, coastal regions or maritime systems
