Background
Since its establishment in 2001, UniMAP has steadily developed into one of Malaysia’s prominent technical universities, particularly in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (E&E), which is recognized as one of its key niche and strength areas.
The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, especially in engineering and engineering technology disciplines, including electrical and electronic engineering, mechatronics, materials engineering, environmental engineering, and industrial technology.
UniMAP operates across multiple campuses in Perlis, supported by comprehensive infrastructure including advanced laboratories, lecture halls, research centres, student residential colleges, sports and recreational facilities, and innovation hubs. The university emphasizes hands-on, industry-driven learning, in line with TVET principles, integrating practical training, applied research, and close collaboration with industrial partners.
Currently, UniMAP maintains academic collaborations and exchange agreements with a numerous universities and institutions worldwide, supporting student mobility, joint research, and dual-degree opportunities. The university also welcomes international students and provides academic support, including English-medium instruction.
All academic programmes at UniMAP are designed with a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and industry relevance. The university’s research activities focus on solving real-world engineering and technological challenges, particularly in areas aligned with national priorities such as E&E, manufacturing, and emerging technologies.
