It is a pleasure and an honour to serve as President of the Global Consortium of Coastal Universities (GCCU). Our new name marks an exciting new chapter—one that reflects our ambition to grow, welcome new member institutions, and strengthen our global impact. As a consortium of universities based in major port cities around the world, we are uniquely positioned to address the opportunities and challenges that shape coastal regions. 

The GCU brings together universities committed to advancing environmental resilience and renewable technologies, maritime affairs and logistics, and global business. As we pursue these priorities, we are equally committed to working closely with industry, government, and local communities to ensure our research and partnerships deliver real, lasting benefit. 

A key focus in this next phase is expanding our membership and inviting institutions that share our vision to join us. I am proud that the Université Le Havre Normandie continues to play an active and leading role in guiding the consortium as we build a dynamic, collaborative network ready to shape the future of port cities and coastal regions worldwide.
